HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH women's soccer team used a dominant second half to defeat Saint Leo 4-2 on Friday afternoon at Charger Park. With the victory, the Chargers improve to 1-0-1 on the season, while the Lions drop to 0-1-1.
Saint Leo grabbed an early advantage with a first-half goal from Annika Schuller to take a 1-0 lead into the break. UAH stormed back after halftime, scoring four goals. Sabrina Da Silva, Jayla Gillespie, Katey Ann Klingel, and Adriana Rojas each contributed a goal.
Saint Leo's Skye Dias scored a late goal to cut the deficit, but UAH's defense held firm to close out the win.
The Chargers outshot the Lions 18-13 overall. Goalkeepers Cece Szopa and Kacey Powell finished the day with a combined total of nine saves in net.
UAH now turns its attention to a road matchup at Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday, Sept. 14, with kickoff set for 12 p.m.
