AIKEN, S.C. | The UAH volleyball team won a pair of matches on the first day of action at the Gulf South Conference/Peach Belt Conference Crossover on the campus of USC Aiken. The Chargers took a five set victory over USC Aiken in match one of the day (25-21 | 20-25 | 23-25 | 25-17 | 15-7) followed by a 3-1 win over Augusta in their second match of the day (25-16 | 25-16 | 22-25, 25-16).
In the first match against the Pacers,
Caroline Moyer led the UAH offense with 18 kills on a .272 attack percentage, while
Mary Grace Bundrant had 13 kills with a .370 attack percentage.
Cooper Garrett had 24 assists to lead the way for the Chargers while
Anna Clare Hutto additionally had 20 assists. Defensively, UAH got 20 digs apiece from
Zoe Smith and
Sydney Durban, while
Alex McGeehan contributed nine block assists.Â
Against the Jags in match two, Smith headlined the offense with 21 kills with a .340 attack percentage as Moyer added another 17 kills. Hutto had 24 assists and Garrett added 22 assists. Durban tallied 21 digs in the second match of the day.
Next up for the Chargers is a matchup with Lander on Friday at 2 p.m. to wrap up their final non-conference contest of the regular season.
