HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team hosted their first game of the New Year on Friday evening at SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall as they defeated Gulf South Conference opponent Union 80-54 for their fourth straight victory.
The Chargers improved to 10-3 (5-2 GSC) with the win, while the Bulldogs dropped to 7-5 (3-3 GSC).
UAH and Union went back and forth for the first 10 minutes of the game, before the Chargers took the lead with 9:44 remaining in the first half and never relinquished the lead again.
Matt Thurman led the way for the Blue & White with an 18 point performance on 6-of-9 shooting to go along with a team-high eight rebounds and two steals.
Thomas Allard added 14 points with four boards and four assists.
Knute Wood and
Rayven Turner each totaled 10 points, while Wood tallied six rebounds.
UAH outpaced Union in assists with a 15-to-8 advantage along with an 18-to-2 advantage in fastbreak points. The Chargers also pounded the paint with a 40-to-22 mark.
