HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team returned home to SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall for the first time in just under two weeks and defeated Valdosta State 77-69.
With the win, UAH moved to 13-5 (8-4 GSC), while the Blazers fell to 11-7 (6-6 GSC).
The first half was in favor of UAH, with both teams struggling from the field, but the Chargers were able to convert 10-of-12 free throws in the first period. Overall, UAH went 22-31 from the free throw line.
UAH would extend the lead to as high as 12 points in the second half as they went 14-for-27 from the field. Overall, UAH held the Blazers to just a 38.7 percent field goal percentage in the game.
Quentin Toles led the way for the Blue & White with 19 points, while
Jordan Mabe had 15 points and
Thomas Allard added 14.
Matt Thurman totaled 12 rebounds with eight points for the Chargers. Mabe was just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards in the game.
The Chargers out muscled the Blazers in the paint 38-to-28 and held the advantage in points off turnovers 17-to-6.
Next up for UAH is a home matchup against West Florida on Friday evening at SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall with tip off set for approximately 7 p.m.
