Men's Basketball Falls Short in Battle with West Florida

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team took on the Gulf South Conference's second-ranked West Florida Argonauts on Friday evening in SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall and fell 78-76 after a missed last-second three point attempt that went in-and-out of the rim by Quentin Toles.

The Chargers dropped to 13-6 (8-5 GSC) with the loss, while the Argos improved to 17-4 (10-3 GSC) with the win.

The game was a back-and-forth contest the entire night, with 10 total lead changes and eight ties. The Argos led 33-31 into the halftime break. Both teams saw an uptick in three point percentage after the half, with the Chargers and Argos both surpassing 60 percent from behind the arc.

Toles led the Chargers in scoring with 23 points on 9-of-16 from the field and a 3-for-7 mark from three. Thomas Allard and Matt Thurman each had 13 points, with Thurman shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from three. Allard led the Blue & White in assists with five to go along with four rebounds and two steals.

Next up for UAH is a pair of road contests in Tennessee as they face off with Lee on Thursday, January 29th at 6:30 p.m. before heading to Nashville on January 31st at 4 p.m.
