HOUSTON, TX | Baseball closed out the 2026 Houston Winter Invitational with a 7–6 loss to Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys baseball on Sunday at Daikin Park.
UAH scored in the first inning for the third consecutive game at Daikin Park, setting an early tone. Caleb Mahan later gave the Chargers the lead in the fourth inning with an RBI single that brought home Taylor Bush.
Arkansas Tech responded in the sixth inning, scoring three runs to take a 4–2 advantage. UAH trimmed the deficit in the seventh when CJ Carson singled to left-center field, driving in Braxton Griffin.
The score held until a dramatic ninth inning. With two outs in the top half, Sean Lapinskes delivered a clutch hit that scored Carson and Seth Staggs. Lapinskes later crossed the plate on a wild pitch, giving UAH a 6–4 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.
The Wonder Boys answered in their final at-bat, tying the game at 6–6 before a balk with two outs allowed the winning run to score, handing Arkansas Tech the 7–6 victory. Jaxon Hay was charged with the loss, his first of the season.
UAH will return to Charger for its home opener Friday against Drury. The Chargers will play a doubleheader beginning at noon, with the second game to follow. The series will conclude Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
