Baseball Earns Doubleheader Sweep Over Christian Brothers

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Baseball earned a doubleheader sweep of the Christian Brothers Buccaneers on Friday at Charger Park, winning by scores of 6–2 and 16–2 in Gulf South Conference play.

Although the games were played in Huntsville due to weather-related schedule changes, UAH served as the designated road team after the series was originally scheduled to take place in Memphis.

Game 1: UAH 6, Christian Brothers 2

Cole Loftis delivered his strongest outing of the season in the opener, pitching six innings without allowing an earned run. Loftis struck out six and walked two to earn his first win of the year.

UAH's offense was steady throughout the game, with four Chargers recording multi-hit performances. Gavin Galenza led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Taylor Bush added two hits and an RBI. Caleb Mahan and Ian Reagan also drove in runs to help power the Chargers to the 6–2 victory.

Nathan Mayfield and Hugh Windle each contributed two-hit performances as UAH built and maintained control behind Loftis' dominant start.

Game 2: UAH 16, Christian Brothers 2

UAH's offense erupted in the second game, highlighted by a series of key extra-base hits.

Jaxon Hay started on the mound and struck out two over three innings of work. Colin Patterson earned his first win of the season in relief, striking out two in a scoreless fourth inning.

The Chargers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Aiden Kashuba and Gunnar Waldrop each delivered RBI singles in the third inning to extend UAH's advantage.

UAH broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring five runs. Nathan Mayfield delivered the decisive blow with a three-run home run, the first home run of the season for both Mayfield and the Chargers. Kashuba followed with a solo home run to make it back-to-back long balls.

Taylor Bush added to the offensive surge with a home run in the fifth inning, extending the lead to 11–0.

Kashuba, Bush, and Seth Staggs each finished with two hits and two RBIs as the Chargers rolled to the 16–2 victory.
