QUINCY, Ill. | The UAH men's lacrosse team used a dominant second quarter to rally past Quincy, earning a 13-9 road victory on Monday afternoon. With the win, the Chargers improve to 3-4 on the season, while Quincy fall to 0-3 overall.
Quincy opened the game with four unanswered goals in the first quarter before Chris Aiello put the Chargers on the board late in the period. Trailing 4-1 after the first, UAH responded with a dominant second quarter, outscoring Quincy 5-1. Aydan Weiszhar scored back-to-back extra-man goals to spark the scoring, while Aiello, Jake Bertils and John Alit each added scores. Alit's goal with 13 seconds remaining in the half gave the Chargers a 6-5 lead at the break.
UAH carried the momentum into the second half, adding three goals in the third quarter from Weiszhar, Logan Pinkerton and Alit to extend the advantage to 9-7. In the fourth, Aiello netted two more to finish with four goals on the day, while Alit completed his hat trick and Bertils added a late extra-man goal to seal the 13-9 road victory. The Chargers outshot Quincy 45-24 and converted 4-of-5 extra-man opportunities in the win.
In goal, Jake Sander earned the win after making nine saves on 18 shots on goal, posting a .500 save percentage.
