HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team outlasted Delta State 69-67 in Gulf South Conference action on Thursday evening in SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall.
The Chargers improved to 15-7 (10-6 GSC), while Delta State dropped to 8-12 (5-10 GSC).
Delta State started off hot in the first half and had their largest lead of the game with 3:54 remaining in the half. However, UAH would go on an 11-0 run to end the first with a 27-26 lead.
The second half was back-and-forth, with the Chargers holding a lead as large as 11 with 5:11 remaining. The Statesmen fought back and cut the lead to two with 49 seconds remaining in the game, but the Blue & White held on for a two point victory.
Thomas Allard led the way with 22 points for the Chargers with eight rebounds and four assists.
Matt Thurman and
Preston Parker joined Allard in double-digits with 14 points and 12 points, respectively. Thurman also had nine boards.
UAH held a 24-to-10 made free throws advantage and a 36-to-28 advantage in the paint.
Next up for UAH is a matchup with Mississippi College on Saturday in SportsMED Arena at 4 p.m.
