Men's Basketball Clobbers Choctaws in GSC Action

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team defeated Mississippi College 97-87 in Gulf South Conference action on Saturday in SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall on Military Appreciation Day.

The Chargers improved to 16-7 (11-6 GSC), while MC dropped to 9-13 (6-10 GSC).

Mississippi College jumped out to a 12-5 lead with 14:59 left in the first half, but the Chargers would answer, outscoring the Choctaws 47-to-23 in the remainder of the first half.

UAH's 97 points is their highest point total in nearly a month of action. The last time they scored over 80 points was on January 10th against AUM in a 100-66 win.

The Chargers were highlighted offensively by a trio of scorers with 20 or more points. Matt Thurman led the way as he poured in 24 points, while Thomas Allard had 22. Knute Wood posted a season-high 20 points in the win.

Allard also added six assists, while Wood had four. Preston Parker and Thurman each added six rebounds apiece to lead the Chargers in the category.

Next up for UAH is a Tennessee road trip as they will face off with Christian Brothers on February 12th and Union on February 14th.
