PENSACOLA, Fla. | The UAH baseball team went on the road on Friday in a Gulf South Conference series-opener against West Florida and fell 6-4 to the Argonauts.
The Chargers dropped to 8-14 (5-8 GSC) with the loss, while the Argos are now 17-5 (9-4 GSC).
UAH jumped out to a two-run lead in the early going off a
Taylor Bush RBI double and a
Luke Songy RBI single. West Florida then posted a three-run inning to take the lead in the third inning.
The Blue & White would reclaim the lead with run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by
Caleb Mahan and another run in the fifth off an
Ian Reagan RBI double.
West Florida would go onto score the final three runs of the game to seal the 6-4 victory.
Hugh Windle led the Chargers in hits with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, while Reagan went 2-for-5 with a RBI.
Cole Loftis put in six innings of work on the mound, giving up just three earned runs as he struck out eight Argos.
The Chargers get back in action with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday against West Florida.
