HUNTSVILLE | The fourth-seed UAH men's basketball team defeated the fifth-seeded Valdosta State Blazers on Monday evening in SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall 110-95 in the Gulf South Conference Quarterfinals.
The Chargers improved to 21-8 with the victory, while Valdosta State ended their season with a 18-11 record.Â
UAH's 110 points are their second-highest point total in their GSC Tournament history, just five points behind their 115 points in a five overtime win over Lee in 2024.Â
The Blue & White had four players over 20 points in Monday evening's win as
Quentin Toles led the way with 26, while
Knute Wood had 23,
Matt Thurman had 22, and
Jordan Mabe put up 21 points.Â
Wood led the team with eight assists while knocking down 5-of-8 three pointers in the quarterfinal. Thurman led the team on the boards with eight total rebounds. Mabe had an efficient 8-for-9 performance from the field, while Toles went 10-for-14 with three made three pointers.Â
UAH led the battle in bench points with a 46-to-29 advantage along with a fastbreak points advantage of 14-to-10.Â
The Chargers will match up with the top-seeded and No. 11 West Alabama Tigers on Thursday, March 5 at 6 p.m. in Livingston, Alabama. UAH defeated West Alabama less than a week ago in Huntsville 70-64.Â
