HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The UAH softball team returns home this weekend for a Gulf South Conference series against Montevallo, with the doubleheader moved to Friday afternoon and the series finale set for Saturday at Les Stuedeman Field.

The Chargers begin the series with a doubleheader against Montevallo on Friday starting at 3 p.m. at Les Stuedeman Field. UAH wraps up the weekend with the series finale on Saturday at noon in Huntsville.
The Chargers are coming off a road Gulf South Conference series against the Valdosta State Blazers last weekend in Valdosta, Georgia. UAH dropped a pair of close games in Saturday's doubleheader, falling 2-1 in eight innings in the opener before a 4-1 decision in game two. The Chargers bounced back in the series finale on Sunday with an 11-3 victory, using a strong offensive performance to secure the win and avoid the sweep.
The Chargers' lineup features several hot hitters this season. Kylie Ballentine is hitting .397 with 27 hits, 19 RBIs, and leads the Gulf South Conference with 10 doubles. Jill Cockrell is batting .394 with 15 RBIs, and leads the nation in triples with six. Alexa Douthitt has been equally productive, hitting .378 with 21 RBIs and leads the GSC with 28 hits.
In the circle, Megan Shurtz and Katie Bracken lead a strong UAH pitching staff. Shurtz has thrown 50.0 innings with 55 strikeouts and a 1.68 ERA, the second-lowest in the GSC, while Bracken has logged 51.1 innings with a 2.73 ERA and ranks third in the nation with 77 strikeouts.
Following the conclusion of the series, the Chargers will travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Tuesday to face North Georgia, with the first pitch of the doubleheader scheduled for 1 p.m.
