HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Baseball delivered a statement at Charger Park on Friday, sweeping a doubleheader against Trevecca Nazarene to clinch the weekend series and earn its third doubleheader sweep of the season.
It marks the first doubleheader sweep at home since February 13 against Christian Brothers and gives the Chargers back-to-back Gulf South Conference series victories for the first time this season.
Game 1 – UAH 11, Trevecca 7
The Chargers used a late offensive explosion and a career performance on the mound to take Game 1.
After battling back and forth through the early innings, UAH broke the game open in the seventh inning, plating six runs in a decisive stretch that flipped the game in their favor. The inning began with traffic on the bases before Taylor Bush drew a bases-loaded walk to force in a run, trimming the deficit. Moments later, Ian Reagan delivered a clutch two-run single, giving UAH the lead. The momentum continued as Braxton Griffin roped a two-run double to extend the advantage, and Jayce Upton followed with an RBI single, capping off the six-run surge that gave the Chargers full control of the game.
Earlier in the game, Bush also provided a spark with a home run to help keep UAH within striking distance.
On the mound, senior Cole Loftis delivered the best outing of his Charger career in his final start at Charger Park. Loftis worked 7.2 innings, a career high, while striking out nine batters, also a career best, to earn the win and set the tone for the doubleheader.
Game 2 – UAH 9, Trevecca 8
The nightcap featured more offensive fireworks and a dramatic finish as the Chargers walked it off to complete the sweep.
UAH seized control early with a five-run third inning, sparked by aggressive baserunning and timely hitting. After putting runners in scoring position, the Chargers capitalized with key RBI opportunities, including a two-run single from Nathan Mayfield and a two-run double from Luke Songy, giving UAH a 5-1 lead and early momentum.
Trevecca battled back late, tying the game in the seventh, but the Chargers refused to let the momentum slip.
In the bottom of the final inning, UAH would take the victory as Hugh Windle delivered the walk-off moment, sending a single up the middle to score Nathan Mayfield and secure the 9-8 victory.
With the win, UAH improves to 19-21 overall and 14-15 in GSC play, strengthening its position in the conference standings.
The Chargers will look to complete the series sweep on Saturday, April 18 at 11 a.m. at Charger Park. Prior to first pitch, UAH will honor its 2026 senior class in a Senior Day ceremony as the team plays its final home game of the regular season.
