Nine-Run Inning Powers Baseball to Sweep of Trevecca on Senior Day

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Baseball capped off its final home series of the regular season in emphatic fashion Saturday afternoon, defeating Trevecca Nazarene 11-8 at Charger Park to complete a three-game sweep.

The sweep marks the Chargers' third GSC series sweep of the season, adding to previous sweeps over Auburn Montgomery and Christian Brothers.

Prior to first pitch, UAH honored its 2026 senior class of Caden Barnett, Taylor Bush, Cross Cacioppo, Logan Franzoni, Jase Gray (R-Jr), Cole Loftis, and Caleb Mahan, each playing their final game at Charger Park.

Trevecca grabbed momentum early, building a 6-1 lead through four and a half innings, but everything changed in a dramatic fifth inning that swung the game completely in UAH's favor.

The Chargers erupted for a nine-run fifth inning. The rally began with a spark from CJ Carson, who launched a solo home run to get UAH on the board in the frame. After a hit-by-pitch and a walk put traffic on the bases, Taylor Bush ripped a two-run double down the left field line to cut the deficit to two.

With momentum building, Ian Reagan delivered an RBI single. The Chargers continued to apply pressure as Hugh Windle came through with a two-run single, giving UAH its first lead of the game. Moments later, a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and a wild pitch allowed another run to score, and Gavin Galenza drew a bases-loaded walk to cap off the inning, completing the stunning nine-run outburst that flipped the game to 10-6 in favor of UAH.

UAH would add an insurance run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Galenza, extending the lead to five.

On the mound, Ian Sonner earned the win, improving to 3-3 on the season, providing key relief during the middle innings. Jase Gray closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning to record his second save of the season, doing so in his final appearance at Charger Park.

With the victory, UAH moves back to .500 in GSC play and sits just one game below .500 overall as the regular season nears its conclusion.

The Chargers will now head to Livingston, Alabama, for their final regular season series against West Alabama as they continue their push toward a spot in the upcoming GSC Tournament.
