GREENEVILLE, Tenn. | The UAH men's lacrosse team traveled to face Tusculum on Wednesday evening and fell 13-10 in a nonconference matchup at Pioneer Field.
The Chargers dropped to 3-12 on the season, while Tusculum improved to 7-5.
UAH came out strong in the opening quarter, building a 5-3 lead behind early goals from four different Chargers, highlighted by a pair from
Brock Deist. The Chargers maintained their edge for much of the first half, but Tusculum responded with a 5-3 run in the second quarter to even the score at 8-8 heading into halftime.
The Pioneers seized control in the third quarter, outscoring UAH 3-2 to take an 11-10 lead into the final period. Tusculum then held the Chargers scoreless in the fourth while adding two insurance goals to secure the 13-10 victory.
Deist led the Chargers offensively with three goals, while
Griffin Utz,
Carson Kingsbury,
Zach Hulbert,
Owen Forbes,
Makai Hillmon,
Aydan Weiszhar, and
Palmer Mood each found the back of the net once.
UAH held a significant advantage in total shots, 61-30, and also led in shots on goal, 30-19. The Chargers controlled ground balls (41-30) and faceoffs (16-10), but were halted by Tusculum's standout preformance in goal, as the Pioneers recorded 20 saves compared to six for UAH.
Next up, the Chargers travel to South Carolina to face Lander on Saturday, April 11, with a 1 p.m. start.
