Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Final-Minute Winner from Hull Lifts Chargers to 1-0 Victory

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Prescott Hull scored in the final minute of regulation to lift the University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer program to a dramatic 1-0 victory over West Alabama on Thursday evening at the UWA Track and Soccer Complex. The win moved the Chargers to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in Gulf South Conference play.

After a scoreless opening half, UAH increasingly controlled the match after the break. The Chargers outshot West Alabama 11-4 in the second half and finished with an 18-10 advantage in shots and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.

That pressure finally paid off with just 43 seconds remaining. Following a late UAH corner, Hull found the game-winner at the 89:17 mark off an assist from Edie Stickell to give the Chargers the 1-0 advantage. Hull finished with two shots on goal, while Stickell recorded her assist after coming off the bench.

CeCe Szopa and the UAH defense made the lead stand, completing the shutout. Szopa played all 90 minutes in goal and stopped all three West Alabama shots on goal.

UAH finishes its road trip with a 2-1 record and now returns to Charger Park. The Chargers will open the home portion of their conference schedule Wednesday against Trevecca at 5 p.m.
