The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team battled Union through a scoreless opening half before falling 3-0 Wednesday evening at Charger Park.
The Chargers (3-5-0, 1-3-0 GSC) generated nine shots in the contest, matching Union's total, while putting two attempts on goal. UAH held a 5-3 advantage in shots during the opening 45 minutes as the two sides entered halftime scoreless.
Michella Tortelli led the UAH attack with four shots, including one on goal, while Carley White added two attempts with one on target. Adriana Rojas, RK Naman and Evelina Gustafsson each recorded one shot.
Union (2-3-2, 2-0-2 GSC) broke the scoreless tie in the 57th minute before adding goals in the 64th and 79th minutes. UAH continued to create opportunities late, with White and Tortelli each putting shots on goal over the final 11 minutes.
CeCe Szopa played all 90 minutes in goal for the Chargers and recorded two saves. UAH also finished even with Union in corner kicks at two apiece.
UAH now turns its attention to the road, as the Chargers travel to Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup against AUM.
