HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH hockey team returns home this weekend in search of its first of the 2011-12 campaign. The Chargers (0-4-0) will host Bowling Green (1-0-1) on Friday at 7 p.m. while also dropping the puck at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Both contests will be available on America One for live video viewing, and Saturday's contest is presented by Intergraph Corporation.
A weekend ago, the Blue and White dropped a pair of contests at No. 13 Western Michigan, falling hard by a 7-1 score in the first game and being shut out 4-0 in the second.
UAH has received some brilliant goaltending performances to keep them in three of the four games played thus far. Both
Clarke Saunders and
John Griggs have recorded a performance of more than 30 saves, but the Chargers have scored just four goals on the season and have yet to score on the power play going 0-for-14 with the man advantage.
The special teams may get a lift with this weekend's opponent as the Falcons allowed four power-play goals to UConn last weekend, including three in a 4-4 tie.
Bowling Green – picked to finish last in the CCHA – won its other game with the Huskies by a 2-1 score. Reigning CCHA Rookie of the week Ryan Carpenter shares the lead in points with Camden Wojtala as both have four points on the year on the strength of one goal and three assists.
Live stats for both games will be available at uahchargers.com, and fans are encouraged to follow the Chargers on Twitter (@uahchargers).
