HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH women's soccer team played to no resolution with visiting West Georgia on Sunday afternoon at Charger Field as the Gulf South Conference match ende in a 2-2 tie. The Lady Chargers move to 3-6-1 on the year while UWG now sits at 3-6-1.
The Chargers struck first in the contest
Cady Reisman streaked down the middle of the field and buried it for her third goal of the season to give the Blue and White a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute.
The lead would be short-lived, however, as Cari Powell struck just under four minutes later in the 34th to even things up, and Powell would score her second goal of the game early in the second half at the 54th to put the Wolves on top.
Not wanting her squad to drop consecutive GSC games for the first time this season,
Khadijah Jannah took a nice ball in the 70th minute from
Tye Springer and scored to also register her third goal of the season as she, Reisman and
Luting Sun now all lead the team in goals at that number.
The score remained that way as both goalies made a save in the closing minutes of regulation and
Iris Gunnarsdottir made the lone stop in the first overtime to produce the deadlocked 2-2 final.
On the day, Gunnarsdottir made a total of six saves as the Lady Chargers were outshot 19-7 in total shots.
The Blue and White will continue conference play on Friday when Harding visits for a 1 p.m. contest.
