Chargers Travel To Providence For Two

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH hockey team is set to travel to Rhode Island this weekend as it takes on Providence in a two-game set beginning Friday evening. The Chargers (0-9-1) and the Friars (4-3-1) will square off at 6 p.m. CST on Friday before skating against each other at the same time on Saturday night.

The Chargers are coming off a weekend that saw them unable to tally a score as they fell by scores of 4-0 and 2-0 to Ohio State at home.

In those games, Clarke Saunders continued to impress as he recorded another 40-save performance as he registered 42 in the Saturday game against the Buckeyes en route to recording a total of 77 stops in the series. On the season, he has recorded 277 saves and sits 32nd in the nation with a save percentage of .914.

A quartet of Chargers continue to sit atop the offensive ledger as Mac Roy, Justin Cseter, Kyle Lysaght, and Ben Reinhardt have all recorded three points on the season.

Joining Roy and Lysaght in a tie for the team-lead in goals with two is Craig Pierce.

Entering the weekend after a pair of wins against Vermont a week ago, the Friars are looking to build upon the advantage they own in the all-time series with UAH. Providence has won five of the six meetings including a pair of victories last season in Huntsville.

An offensive force this year, the Friars are averaging nearly four goals a game and boast four games in which they have scored five or more goals.

Ross Mauermann leads the Providence attack with nine points on the strength of three goals and six assists, while Tim Schaller holds the top spot in goals with five scored on the year. All five have been on special teams – three with the man-advantage and two in short-handed situations.

Alex Beaudry has started every game in goal for this weekend's hosts, owning a 2.96 goals against average and a save percentage of .900.

Live stats and an audio broadcast will be available through friars.com, and fans are encouraged to follow the Chargers on Facebook (facebook.com/uahchargers) and on Twitter (@uahchargers).
