HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – After a weekend off, the UAH hockey team is set to return to the ice this weekend as it welcomes Ohio State to the Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center for a two-game set. The puck drops on Friday evening's contest presented by Intergraph at 7 p.m. and Saturday's opening faceoff for the game sponsored by Chick-fil-A will be at 7 p.m., also.
The Chargers enter the weekend at 0-7-1, while the Buckeyes own a 4-3-1 mark.
The Blue and White received a positive result in the Air Force series two weekends ago as it earned a 1-0 lead midway through the second period of the series' first contest. The goal was a power-play strike from freshman
Kyle Lysaght, snapping a scoreless streak to start the season with the man-advantage for the Chargers.
Air Force tied the contest late despite the best efforts of
Clarke Saunders who registered 56 saves in the outing.
Lysaght added a goal in UAH's 7-2 loss in the second contest against Air Force, and he sits tied with
Mac Roy and
Craig Pierce for the team lead in goals, while Lysaght and Roy are joined by
Justin Cseter on the top of the points ledger as each have recorded three points on the season.
On the year, Saunders has already registered 200 saves while allowing 20 goals – seven of which have been power-play scores for the opposition.
The Buckeyes visit the Rocket City unbeaten in their last three contests as they went 1-0-1 against Alaska last weekend, and the team is 2-2 away from Columbus this season.
Chris Crane paces this weekend's visitors offensive as he has scored five times while adding three assists for a team-best eight points. Right on Crane's heels, Ryan Dzingel has registered seven points on the strength of three goals and four assists.
Cal Heeter has earned the majority of minutes in goals for OSU, putting together a 4-1-1 record to go along with his 2.24 goals against average and .927 save percentage.
With a 4-2-1 mark all-time against the Buckeyes, the Blue and White hold the advantage. UAH won four of the first five meetings – the only non-win was a tie – before dropping a pair of contests in Columbus last year.
