Chargers Drop 4-0 Contest To Ohio State

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH hockey team gave up an early goal and could not recover as it fell Friday night to visiting Ohio State, losing 4-0 to drop to 0-8-1 on the season. The visiting Buckeyes improve to 5-3-1.

Darik Angeli scored at the 2:23 mark of the first period, and Danny Dries followed that up with a natural hat trick as he scored twice in the second period – at 2:27 and 10:33 – and added his final score at 13:31 of the third to produce the 4-0 score.

Two of the goals scored by Dries came on the power play.

Clarke Saunders picked up his sixth straight in goal for the Chargers, and he again faced a barrage of shots as the Buckeyes peppered him with 39 on the night. The sophomore turned aside 35.

The Chargers were unable to generate much offensively, limited to just 21 shots – including firing off just two in the middle frame.

Ohio State finished the night 2-of-4 on the power play, while the Blue and White were unsuccessful on its four opportunities with the man-advantage.

The two teams will square off again Saturday night at 7 p.m.
