BEMIDJI, Minn. – Wrapping up an 11-game trip away from Huntsville, the UAH hockey team fell on Saturday night to Bemidji State by a 5-0 score. With the loss, the Chargers fall to 1-19-1, while BSU improves its mark to 9-9-2.
Quickly producing a lead for the hosts, Aaron McLeod scored just 31 seconds into the game, and Radoslav Illo scored on the power play at 12:12 of the opening period to give BSU a 2-0 lead after one.
The early hole did not deter the UAH offense, however, as the Chargers outshot BSU in the first period by a 9-7 clip.
The Beavers struck three times on the power play Saturday night after the Chargers were perfect on the penalty kill against them in Friday's contest.
The other two power-play markers came in the second period as Brady Wacker tallied at 1:16 and Brad Hunt struck at 15:26, and Danny Mattson wrapped up the scoring for the Beavers with an unassisted score at 13:28 of the third.
For a second straight night, the Chargers hung close on the shot counter as they trailed by just one with Bemidji State holding a 28-27 advantage.
Kyle Lysaght and
Alex Allan both fired a team-best four shots on net.
UAH will return to the Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center on Dec. 30 and 31 when it welcomes Mercyhurst to town.
