HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH women's soccer team dropped a second consecutive game as it lost in conference play to Valdosta State by a 2-0 score on Friday afternoon at Charger Field. The Lady Chargers fall to 2-7 (1-1 Gulf South Conference) while the Blazers improve to 7-2 (3-0 GSC).
Valdosta State – off to an impressive start in its first year as a program – established control early and simply would not allow UAH to produce much offensively as the Lady Chargers were able to only tally one shot on goal in the contest.
Morgan Cutts started the scoring in the 32nd minute as Abbi Edwards assisted, and the second VSU strike came in the 66th as the ball bounced around in front for Margret Stauffed to drive home with Lizzie Lohmar earning the helper.
Iris Gunnarsdottir for the third consecutive game faced a high number of shots as she made eight saves while allowing the two goals.
UAH was outshot 15-4, and the Blazers also held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lady Chargers will have a quick opportunity to bounce back as West Georgia travels to Charger Field for a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
