UAH Falls To Lincoln Memorial

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Falling in a tight contest, the UAH women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting Lincoln Memorial on Sunday afternoon at a rain-soaked Charger Field. The loss drops the Lady Chargers to 1-1, while LMU improves to 1-1.

The game was scoreless through the opening 45 minutes as the two sides combined for just three shots on goal in the period – two by the visitors and one for the Blue and White.

Early in the second half, however, the Lady Railsplitters would get on the board. Abby Yother's initial shot was blocked by UAH goalkeeper Iris Gunnarsdottir but Lindsay Anderson was there to bury the rebound home to put LMU up 1-0 in the 49th minute.

The Chargers would quickly respond.

Working with open space down the right side, Khadijah Jannah found the promised land as her shot went through the box to the left post and in for the equalizer in the 52nd minute.

The sophomore from Atlanta finished the day leading the team with three shots on goal.

Unfortunately the deadlock would not last long as Michelle Allen weaved her way through the Lady Charger defense in the 65th minute, going near post past Gunnarsdottir to put LMU up for good.

Gunnarsdottir finished the game four saves in earning the loss. Kayla Hanson picked up the victory in goal for the guests by stopping four UAH attempts.

One of those stops was on a shot by Luting Sun just minutes after LMU had re-taken the advantage. Jannah started the play off with a nice pass forward to Cady Reisman who crossed to Sun, but Hanson was up for the challenge and preserved the lead for her squad.

The Lady Chargers return to action on Wednesday as they hit the road for the first time in the 2011 campaign. The contest at North Georgia is slated for 3 p.m. CDT.
