UAH Tripped Up At North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The UAH women's soccer team went on the road for the first time in the 2011 campaign on Wednesday and in the process dropped a 4-1 decision to North Georgia. The setback drops the Lady Chargers to 1-2 on the season while the Lady Saints remain perfect at 3-0.

Wednesday's outcome coupled with the loss to Lincoln Memorial on Sunday marks the first time the Blue and White have lost in back-to-back contests in almost two seasons, an impressive streak that dates back to consecutive losses on Sept. 27 and Oct. 2 in 2009.

With the game completely tilted towards North Georgia as it led 3-0, Luting Sun scored early in the second half during the 52nd minute to make it a two-goal contest. The unassisted tally for Sun is her second of the year and places her on top of the team in scoring.

The hosts took control of the game during a 13-minute span in the first half.

Natalie Douglass scored in the 21st minute to open the scoring, and then North Georgia tallied a pair of quick strikes to pull ahead 3-0 as Emily Dover scored in the 33rd minute and less than a minute later she put another one into the back of the net.

Kelly Pinston iced the game in the 80th minute with a goal to produce the 4-1 final.

North Georgia dominated the game statistically, registering 30 shots, 13 of which were on target as Iris Gunnarsdottir finished the match with nine saves. The Lady Chargers had seven shot attempts, and two were on goal.

The Lady Chargers will look to get back in the win column this weekend as they host Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 10 at noon.
