Chargers To Take On Defending Champs

LIVE STATS | LIVE AUDIO | LIVE VIDEO
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
Indicative of the tough scheduled which they have faced, the University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team will face the No. 1 team in the country for the second time this season as it travels to Minnesota Duluth for a two-game set that begins with a 7:07 p.m. tilt on Friday and wraps up with a 7:07 p.m. contest Saturday.

The Chargers enter the contest with a 2-22-1 record, while the reigning national champions sit at 15-4-3.

UAH has been off for a week since splitting at then-No. 10 Denver where Jamie Easton scored the game-winner in a 3-2 victory.

Justin Cseter scored twice in the series with Denver and now sits one point off of the team-lead as he has totaled eight points on the season, while Mac Roy and Kyle Lysaght both have registered nine points. For his career, Cseter leads all active UAH players with 36 points.

Roy had a goal and an assist in the victory, joining seven other Chargers in recording a pair of points over the past four games – a stretch that has seen solid play offensively while the squad has also limited their opposition's chances.

This weekend's contests mark the first between the two institutions.

The Bulldogs will be playing their first games at home since November, and the team had been riding a 17-game unbeaten streak before losing to Nebraska Omaha last week.

Jack Connolly leads the squad with 36 points on the strength of 13 goals and 23 assists, and Kenny Reiter has been strong in goal for his team, registering a save percentage of .919 and a goals against average of 2.17 on the season.

Strong defensively, UMD has been especially stingy in allowing shots late in game as it outshoots its opponent by a 255-180 margin in the third period on the season.
