Lady Chargers Travel To Rival UNA Saturday

LIVE STATS | LIVE VIDEO
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
In a pivotal match between two programs that are closely ranked in the NCAA South Region, the University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team will travel to Florence to take on rival North Alabama on Saturday. Kick-off between the 8-8 (4-4 Gulf South Conference) Lady Chargers and 9-4 (4-2-1) UNA is slated for 7 p.m.

UAH enters the game ranked No. 9 in the ever-important regional rankings, while the Lions own the seventh spot.

Scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals in the Blue and White's thrilling overtime victory over Delta State, Khadijah Jannah has taken over the team lead in scoring as she owns 18 points on the strength of eight goals and two assists. The junior sits sixth in the league in goals while ranking seventh in points.

Turning in 18 saves during the team's three-game winning streak, Iris Gunnarsdottir has amassed 100 saves on the season while lowering her goals against average to 1.42. The 100 saves is a number that is just 11 off of the program record saves in a season that she set a season ago.

Earlier in the season, the two teams met in a non-conference match in the Rocket City, and the Lions left town with a 2-0 victory as Chloe Roberts scored and then assisted on Chloe Richards' goal. Roberts paces the squad with 13 scores and seven assists for 33 points on the year.

After winning five in a row, UNA lost three consecutive road matches before ending the slide on Wednesday with a 2-0 victory at Christian Brothers.
