Martin Methodist Knocks Off UAH 3-0

Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Visiting Martin Methodist made an early goal stand, defeating the University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team by a 3-0 score on Tuesday afternoon at Charger Park. The setback drops the Chargers to 5-7 on the season while the RedHawks improve to 8-3.
 
Mor Efraim scored an unassisted tally, collecting her own rebound and burying it just six minutes in the match, and she assisted on Sofia Smati's strike in the 22nd minute as the visitors built up a 2-0 advantage going into the halftime break.
 
Scoring just seven minutes into the second stanza, Efraim struck again to put her squad firmly ahead at 3-0 in the 52nd.
 
Martin Methodist dominated the contest, outshooting UAH 20-0 and 10 of those were on frame as Lady Charger keeper Iris Gunnarsdottir turned away seven on the afternoon to increase her Gulf South Conference-leading save total to 77 for the season.
 
The RedHawks also held a 10-1 advantage in corners.
 
UAH will now hit the road, looking to build upon its strong 4-1 mark away from Charger Park when they battle Valdosta State at 6 p.m. CDT on Friday.
