BOSTON, Mass. – Despite
Kyle Lysaght scoring his second goal of the season, the University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell 3-1 to Northeastern on the road Sunday night.
UAH (0-9-1) held a 1-0 lead over the Huskies (4-4-1) after the first period, thanks to the Lysaght goal at 7:01.
Alex Allan and Lasse Uusivirta recorded the assist on the goal.
Lysaght led the Chargers last season in scoring and has been itching for another goal and in the first period at Matthews Arena he found the back of the net.
The remainder of the game belonged to Northeastern, who added two goals in the second period and another one late on an empty net.
Gregg Gruehl got the call in goal, and picked up 31 saves and allowed just two goals. Gruehl played well enough and definitely gave his team a chance to pick up their first win, but the UAH defense couldn't keep the Huskies out of goal.
Northeastern only held a 34-25 advantage on shots, after dominating last night's game by a final shot count of 54-19.
Lysaght was honored in the game as the No. 3 Three Star performer for his goal.
Both teams finished with five penalties in the game.
UAH travels to Lake Superior State this coming weekend. Friday's game starts at 6:30 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
