HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
With just three regular season games to play, the University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team hits the road for a two-game road trip as the Lady Chargers face Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tenn., on Sunday, Feb. 19, before taking on Oakland City in Oakland City, Ind., in a nonconference matchup on Saturday, Feb. 20. Tipoff for the two games is set for 2 p.m. CST and 5 p.m. CST, respectively.

UAH (19-4, 10-2 GSC) enters the weekend just one win away from tallying the most wins in a single season since the 1984-85 season when the squad finished 20-6 overall. If the Lady Chargers can take both games, they will then have 21 wins and hold the third-most wins in a season in program history – 1981-82 finished 22-8 and 1982-83 finished 27-8.

After defeating Delta State in its last outing, UAH put itself in position to at least share the GSC title with DSU as long as the squad wins its two remaining games. The Lady Chargers took down DSU, 71-57, snapping an eight-game losing streak to the Lady Statesmen. Sophomore Jasmine Hammon led four Lady Chargers in double figures with her seventh double-double of the year – 12th of her career – by scoring a game-high 25 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.

With DSU defeating North Alabama on Saturday, Feb. 18, UAH needs to grab a win at Christian Brothers in order to keep pace and stay alive in the hunt for the Gulf South Conference regular season title.

Christian Brothers enters the weekend with an overall record of 5-19 and 2-10 in the league. The Lady Bucs have dropped their last seven games, but all five of the team's wins this year have come when the squad is playing at home. CBU is led nightly by Jasmine Ellis who is scoring 9.6 points per game while grabbing 8.0 rebounds per contest.

Historically, CBU leads the all-time series over UAH by a slim margin of 9-7, though the Lady Chargers have won the previous two meetings. In the first meeting this season between the two schools, UAH claimed a 76-58 decision in Huntsville behind Hammon's double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Bailee Robinson and sophomore Jordan Smith added 15 points and 14 points, respectively, in that contest.

As for Oakland City, the Lady Bucs are just 10-12 on the year but are now stringing together some wins, claiming six of their last eight games after starting the season 0-7. Oakland City is led by Jane Barclay who is averaging close to a double-double with 9.6 points per outing and 9.1 rebounds per game. Rinesha Soaper is the only Lady Oak scoring in double figures nightly with 10.6 points per game.

In the all-time series against Oakland City, UAH is the team with the slim margin of 12-10. The Lady Chargers have won four of the last five meetings after dropping a 96-94 overtime decision last year in Indianapolis, and the Blue and White haven't won at Oakland City since Jan. 20, 2009 when UAH won 63-61.

Oakland City and UAH met earlier this season in what turned out to be a lopsided 73-47 UAH victory. While two Lady Chargers scored in double figures (Smith, 13; Hammon, 11), UAH also forced the Lady Oaks into 43 turnovers, which is still the most this season for a UAH opponent.

After the weekend, UAH will return home to close out the regular season with a contest against conference and in-state rival North Alabama on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. at Spragins Hall.
