HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's tennis team picked up a thrilling 5-4 victory over Montevallo on Saturday, and the triumph pushes the Lady Chargers to 2-3 on the season.
UAH led out of the gates as the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles both won for the Blue and White to produce a 2-1 lead heading into singles action. Both the pairing of
Alejandra Pacheco and
Melanie Junod and the duo of
Adriana Buitrago and
Lina Carvajal were 8-2 winners in doubles play to produce the UAH advantage.
A strong performance from the middle of the singles lineup then solidified the victory.
Kasi McDonald and Pacheco both won 6-0, 6-1 from the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, and Carvajal helped secure the match for the Lady Chargers with a 6-3, 6-1 win over her Falcon opponent.
The Lady Chargers are slated to return to action on Sunday when Young Harris visits for a 1 p.m. match.
