Lady Chargers Pick Up Another Weekend Win

ATLANTA - The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's tennis team picked up its second win in as many days, defeating Clark Atlanta on Sunday 5-4 to move over the .500 mark as the team's record improves to 4-3 on the season.

Already up by one point in doubles action thanks to a point won by default, the No. 2 pairing of Alejandra Pacheco and Melanie Junod picked up an 8-2 victory to push the Lady Chargers on top by a 2-1 score heading into singles play.

Receiving another point by default to go up 3-1, the Lady Chargers needed to win just two singles points to claim the match and they did just that.

From the second position, Maria Lawton was a 6-1, 6-1 winner, and Pacheco picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 to put UAH over the top with five points.

The contest was nearly tilted even more towards the Lady Chargers as Junod played a close match at the No. 1, falling 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).
