HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team will play its final two road games of the 2011-12 season, traveling to Miami to take on yet another nationally-ranked opponent as the RedHawks enter the series ranked No. 20 in the country. Friday's contest will begin at 6:35 p.m. CST, and Saturday's game is slated to start at p.m. 6:05 CST.
UAH comes into the weekend with a 2-26-1 mark, while the hosts own a record of 15-13-2.
Putting together a strong freshman campaign,
Kyle Lysaght continues to pace the team with 13 points on the strength of seven goals and six assists, and his linemates
Mac Roy and
Justin Cseter sit just behind him with 12 points.
The line was particularly impressive in the team's bid for an upset at Maine last weekend when the trio combined on all three goals as each turned in the first three-point night of the season for the Blue and White.
Clarke Saunders continues to be strong in net for the Chargers, recording another pair of 30-save performances against Maine to raise his total to 845 on the season. He has registered a save percentage of .906 on the season while recording a goals against average of 3.73.
The two teams have met on the ice seven times with the last meeting coming in the NCAA tournament in 2010 when Miami won by a slim 2-1 margin. In Oxford, Miami has taken the four contests between the two teams as they last met in the regular season in the 2003-04 year when Miami won 4-2 and 5-2.
For the RedHawks, Reilly Smith leads the way offensively as he has 20 goals and eight assists for 28 points on the year, and Austin Czarnik owns 23 points with seven goals and 16 points
The team has used a tandem in goal as Connor Knapp and Cody Reichard have teamed up for a goals against average of 2.31. Knapp has registered an 8-6 mark to go along with a goals against average of 1.86 and a save percentage of .926, while Reichard is 7-7-2 on the year, allowing an average of 2.60 goals with a save percentage of .897.
