HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH men's soccer team is set for its final contest before conference play begins, traveling to a former Gulf South Conference foe on Tuesday night when the Chargers battle Montevallo. UAH enters the contest looking for its first victory at 0-2, and the Falcons sit at 2-2.
The Chargers will begin GSC play later in the week when they travel to Christian Brothers and Delta State.
In both of their games thus far in the new campaign, the Blue and White have fallen by 2-1 scores with sophomore
Kyle Simmons scoring both of the team's goals to lead the team with four points.
The UAH side is full of youth as keeper
Kel Markert is the only starter to have more than one year of collegiate experience, but the team has battled hard in its two previous games.
One of those contests was against Lincoln Memorial who Montevallo has played also.
The Falcons fell 1-0 on Saturday in UM's home opener against LMU, and all of Montevallo's games have been one-goal contests. The team defeated Eckerd 1-0 before falling to Tampa 2-1, and Tuesday's hosts also own a 1-0 victory over first-year program West Alabama.
A season ago the two teams met in Huntsville, and the Chargers took home a 3-1 victory as Simmons scored twice – including the game-winner in the 57th minute – marking the second consecutive victory for UAH in the all-time series which is now just narrowly tilted in Montevallo's favor at 10-9.
