HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Aiming to build momentum off of Tuesday's electrifying overtime victory at Montevallo, the University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team continues play on the road this weekend as it battles Christian Brothers at 5 p.m. on Friday before taking on Delta State at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Just as they did against North Alabama this past Sunday, the Lady Chargers will be playing a pair of games against GSC foes that do not count in the standings as conference games.
It was the team's leading scorer
Sydnie Fiocca who provided the heroics in the extra period, matching
Khadijah Jannah for the team lead in goals as both have three. Fiocca has added an assist to total seven points on the season.
Also strong in the game was
Iris Gunnarsdottir who now leads the GSC with 33 saves, and her .805 save percentage is the third-best in the league.
In the all-time series with the Lady Bucs, the Lady Chargers trail 5-12-1, but they have dominated against Delta State as they have posted an all-time record 7-1.
UAH picked up three wins last season again the weekend's opponents, beating Christian Brothers 4-1 in Memphis, and defeating the Lady Statesmen 2-1 in the Rocket City and 1-0 in Cleveland, Miss.
Christian Brothers owns a record of 2-2 on the season, while DSU sits at 1-2.
