Box Score MEMPHIS – The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team scored two minutes into the game en route to its second consecutive victory, defeating host Christian Brothers 2-0 on Friday evening. The win improves the Lady Chargers to 3-3 on the year, while CBU falls to 2-3.
The game does not count in the standings as a Gulf South Conference match.
Taking the quick lead just over a minute and a half into the contest,
Cady Reisman played a perfect cross to
Trisha Ehrhardt who then buried it past the Lady Buc keeper for her second goal of the season.
The shot marked the only one that UAH would place on frame in the half as the visitors were outshot 7-5 in the period including a 3-1 difference in shots on goal, but
Iris Gunnarsdottir was up to the task as she turned each of the three to keep the score 1-0 at the half.
She also stopped three more shots that came her way in the second half, giving the Reykjavik, Iceland, native her second clean sheet of the season.
Providing the Lady Chargers with insurance,
Khadijah Jannah scored her fourth of the season in the 73rd minute when she had a long run to a loose ball before scooting past the keeper to score on an uncontested try. Jannah now owns the team lead in scoring with the four goals.
For the contest, UAH was outshot 14-7 and the Lady Bucs held an 8-4 advantage in corners, but the Lady Chargers controlled the contest much more than the stats would indicate.
Remaining on the road, the Lady Chargers will travel to Delta State for a 12:30 p.m. contest on Sunday.
