Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team welcomed a tough Christian Brothers side to town on Sunday, and the two teams played to a 1-1 draw at Charger Park. The Lady Chargers move to 3-6-4 (1-4-1 GSC) on the season while CBU goes to 9-1-2 (3-1-1 GSC).
The tie snapped a five-game winning streak for the Lady Buccaneers.
Trailing by one after conceding a goal to Camilla Rodrigues in the 24th minute, the Lady Chargers would level the affair in the 66th minute.
Danielle Schager earned her first point of her senior campaign as she fed a nice ball to sophomore
Sydnie Fiocca, and the St. Catharine's, Ontario, native made it 1-1 after she deposited it into the back of the net for her second score of the year.
The score was one of nine that the Lady Chargers put on goal as the squad outshot the visitors 18-16 including a 9-4 difference in shots that were on frame. Fiocca and
Alex Petermann led UAH as both took five shots and both had three that were on target.
Iris Gunnarsdottir made three stops on the day – including one in the second overtime to preserve the 1-1 tie – as she helped limit Christian Brothers to just the one goal after the Lady Bucs entered the contest scoring more than two per contest.
UAH will return to action on Friday when West Alabama visits. Kick-off for the conference game is slated for 5 p.m. at Charger Park.
