UNA Slips Past Lady Chargers with Late Goal

Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 setback to North Alabama Wednesday night in the team's final home game of the season. The setback puts the Lady Chargers at 3-9-5 on the season while UNA improves to 7-7-2.
 
The Lady Chargers struck first in the 69th minute when Summer Mooney dropped a pass off to teammate Alex Petermann outside the box as Petermann made a move past the defender for her second goal of the season.
 
The assist was the second of the year for Mooney.
 
UNA would go on to score five minutes later in the 74th minute when Chloe Richards found Eleanor Costello for her first goal of the season.  Richards then found Abby Fannin 11 minutes later to take a 2-1 lead with just over four minutes left in the game.
 
The Lions held a 26-9 advantage in shots attempted while holding an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal, as Iris Gunnarsdottir would send away six of those attempts that came her way.
 
UNA would attempt all three corner kicks in the second half to hold the 3-1 advantage over UAH as well.
 
During pregame festivities, seniors Iris Gunnarsdottir, Moriah Bayse and Danielle Schager were all recognized on senior night for their accomplishments and commitment to the women's program.
 
The three seniors and the rest of the Lady Chargers will return to action for the final game of the regular season when they head to Jackson, Tenn., for a 5 p.m. matchup with Union.
