HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Eclipsing the 100-point mark for the third straight game to perform a feat that has never been accomplished in program history, the University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team defeated visiting Trevecca Nazarene 103-69 on Wednesday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. UAH improves to a perfect 3-0 start on the season, while the Trojans slip to 1-1.
 
In their stunning start to the season, the Lady Chargers are averaging 113.7 points per contest and outscoring the opposition by an average margin of 52.4 points.
 
Both 
Jordan Smith and 
Jasmine Hammon increased their season scoring averages in the contest as Smith poured in 31 points on the night while Hammon scored 29. Smith is now averaging 25.7 on the season while Hammon owns a 24.0 points per game scoring average.
 
UAH only led by three at the half as the visitors were able to shoot 41.3 percent from the floor in the period, but UAH's pressure wore the opposition down and a 25.8 percent shooting performance in the second half for TNU allowed UAH to hold a commanding 58-27 advantage on the scoreboard in the period.
 
The intense defensive effort produced 27 Trevecca turnovers, and UAH converted them into 27 points.
 
For the contest, the Lady Chargers shot 45.6 percent from the field, while TNU was held to a 34.3 percent mark.
 
In addition to Smith and Hammon, the UAH had two others in double figures as senior 
Shannon Steinert scored 16 while collecting an impressive nine steals and 
Halle Jarnagin chipped in with 11 while also grabbing seven rebounds.
 
UAH held a 55-45 advantage on the glass, and 
Juanice Newton paced the team with nine rebounds. 
Kendra Jones and Hammon joined Jarnagin with seven boards.
 
Smith added a team-high seven assists.
 
UAH will now turn its attention to Tennessee Temple who visits on Saturday. Tip is slated for 3 p.m.
