UAH's Season Ends in GSC Tournament Semifinals

Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team fell on Friday night to Christian Brothers by a 3-1 score to have its run at the 2013 Gulf South Conference Tournament cut short. The Lady Chargers end the season at 5-10-5, while CBU improves to 13-4-2.

The contest marked the final one for UAH's three seniors – Iris Gunnarsdottir, Moriah Bayse, and Danielle Schager.

In her final game in the Blue and White, Gunnarsdottir made five more saves to extend her program record for stops in a career to 352 as one of the most decorated goalkeepers in UAH history finished the year with 119. The Reykjavik, Iceland, native recorded more than 100 saves during each of her three seasons.

Similar to Friday night's game, the Lady Chargers surrendered an early goal as Christian Brothers scored in the fourth minute to grab a 1-0 lead, and the score remained that way through the halftime break when CBU would push the lead out to 2-0 in the 56th minute.

The Lady Chargers would cut the deficit in half when Sydnie Fiocca scored her fifth of the season. Melody Dodd picked up the assist on the goal as she had a breakaway attempt stopped by the CBU keeper, but the rebound was left in front for Fiocca to bury.

Fiocca's two goals at the tournament pushed her to the top of the offensive ledger for the year.

Christian Brothers responded, however, scoring just over a minute later to regain a two-goal advantage, and the team would hold off UAH the rest of the way.

For the contest, CBU held a 15-6 advantage in shots and an 8-4 margin in shots on goal.
