Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Kamyia Smith nailed the 13th 3-pointer of the night for her team just before time expired, and Valdosta State escaped from Huntsville with a 67-65 victory on Thursday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Lady Chargers slip to 9-13 (6-6 Gulf South Conference), while VSU improves to 12-8 (4-7 GSC).
Baliee Robinson tied the contest at 64-64 with 49 seconds left in the game, and
Natalie Kelley swatted away VSU's attempt on the ensuing possession to give the basketball back to UAH. After Valdosta State committed a foul,
Jordan Smith hit a free throw to put the Lady Chargers on top for the first time in the half.
UAH played strong defense on the final possession, but Valdosta's Smith was able to get the 3-pointer to fall to produce the victory for the visitors.
Valdosta State led by as many as 11 in the first half and took a 42-33 lead into the halftime break, but the Lady Chargers would chip into the deficit gradually throughout the period, starting with a strong start to the second half that saw a 6-0 run quickly make it a 3-point game at 42-39 just under two minutes into the period.

Jasmine Hammon layup at the 11:57 mark pulled UAH to within two, but VSU would eventually string together consecutive treys to grab a 59-51 lead at the 9:34 mark.
A 7-1 run for the Lady Chargers cut the deficit back down to two, and UAH would tie the game three times down the stretch – including Robinson's equalizing basket – to setup the frantic finish.
Hammon paced the Lady Chargers with 17 points, while Smith scored 13. Kelley added 11 and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
UAH dominated the game inside, outscoring the Lady Blazers 32-14 in the paint, and UAH also won the rebounding battle by a 34-32 margin.
Valdosta State – whose quartet of double-figure scorers was paced by Brittney Nelson who scored 20 – connected on 43.1 percent of its shots and was 13-for-21 from beyond the arc. UAH shot the ball well above its season average as it connected on 40.0 percent from the field.
The Lady Chargers will return to action Saturday when West Florida visits.
