HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's tennis team defeated visiting Christian Brothers on Wednesday, dispatching the Lady Bucs by a 9-0 score in the final home match for senior
Alejandra Pacheco. The Lady Chargers improve to 7-6 while evening their Gulf South Conference mark at 3-3.
“I would like to thank Ale for all the hard work she has put into the UAH tennis program,” said Head Coach Daniel Finn. “We could all take a lesson from the way Ale shows up to work every day with a smile on her face and a willingness to compete.”
On the day of her final home contest, Pacheco did not surrender a game to her opposition in doubles or singles play as she teamed up with
Katie Bryant at the second position for an 8-0 win in doubles before winning 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 singles.
The Lady Chargers – who started the contest with a 3-0 lead as CBU did not fill the No. 3 doubles or the fifth and sixth positions in singles – also received an 8-2 win at the first spot in doubles as
Lina Carvajal and
Maria Lawton cruised to the victory.
Lawson performed just like Pacheco in singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 at the third position, while Carvajal won the No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-1. Rounding out the day for UAH,
Jessica Groupierre was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at the No. 1.
