NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – UAH outfielder
Chandler Brock has added another accolade to what already has been a young stellar career. The reigning Gulf South Conference Player of the Year was recently listed as a top 40 prospect in the New England Baseball League by Baseball America.
The list features 39 other players from Division I schools across the country, including six players that were drafted straight out of high school into the MLB. Brock was the only player on the list to represent a Division II school.
His time with the Vermont Mountaineers last summer was a successful stint, finishing fifth in the league with a .339 batting average to go along with a team-high 42 hits over 39 games.
The Athens, Ala., native was also named NECBL Player of The Week ending Aug. 3 2013, where he hit .565 (13-for-23) with nine runs, two doubles, three RBIs and four steals.
He helped lead the Mountaineers to a 23-20 record on the season, finishing second in the Western Division while also contributing to the team's playoff appearance.
Brock garnered First Team All-American honors last year on three separate platforms and will return for his junior season in the Blue and White in 2014.
The NECBL has become a nationally recognized top-tier league that plays in all six New England states and recruits players attending U.S colleges from New England, the other 44 States and foreign countries. Each year the top players are scouted and selected in the MLB Draft.
