About the Lady Chargers

SCORING LEADER: Though UAH has come down somewhat from its lofty scoring average of over 100 points per game from non-conference play, the Lady Chargers still lead the GSC in scoring with 95.7 points per game. The team also remains on top when only league games are taken into consideration as the Lady Chargers are averaging 80.3 points per contest in conference play, and that mark is nearly 13 points higher than the second team in the league which is Delta State with 67.3 points per game.

SIMPLY THE BEST: With both once again having terrific campaigns, the pair of Jasmine Hammon and Jordan Smith are solidifying their positions on top of UAH's all-time scoring ledger. Hammon, who set the career record for points a season ago, currently has 1,829 career points while Smith sits in second with 1,716 points.

CLEANING THE GLASS: Juanice Newton set a personal goal to be a leader on the boards this season, and the junior forward is making good on that commitment with a team-best 8.5 rebounds per game. Totaling 111 on the year, Newton has six games in which she has notched double figures in rebounds allowing her to post three double-doubles on the year including a 17-point, 11-rebound showing last weekend against West Georgia.

WELL-ROUNDED SMITH: In addition to continuing to lead the conference in scoring at 23.5 points per game, Jordan Smith also ranks among the best in assists as the senior sits tied for third in the league with 3.9 helpers per game. Last week against West Georgia, she dished out seven assists to go along with her 16 points and five rebounds.

CONFERENCE UPDATE: After undefeated Delta State (7-0) at the top, there remains a tight bunch of teams in the GSC standings after play Thursday night. Union and Lee – which are both ineligible for postseason play – sit in second at 5-2 followed by the Lady Chargers and West Florida who share 4-3 marks. Three teams – Valdosta State, North Alabama, and Christian Brothers – are 3-4 in league play, while Shorter (3-5), West Georgia (2-6), and West Alabama (1-7) round out the standings.

About the Opponent

ABOUT THE LADY FLAMES: Lee enters the game with a 9-4 (5-2 GSC) record after defeating West Alabama 55-38 on Thursday night. Under the direction of head coach Marty Rowe, who earned his 400th collegiate win in the victory over UWA, the Lady Flames are scoring 70.9 points per contest while limiting their opposition to 60.4 points per contest.

LEADING THE WAY: Hollie German leads Lee with 24.9 points per contest, and she scored 25 against West Alabama as she connected on 7-of-13 attempts from 3-point land in the win. Jenna Adams also scored in double figures with a scoring average of 15.5, and she leads the team on the glass with 9.2 rebounds per contest including seven on Thursday against the Tigers.

FAMILY TIES: There is a UAH connection to Lee star Hollie German as her aunt Pam German Hindman played for the Lady Chargers in the early 80s. Hindman had a terrific career as a girls basketball coach at Chattanooga Christian where she won 11 district championships prior to retiring at the end of the 2010-11 season.

Series History

The teams are meeting for the first time in Gulf South Conference play and for the first time since Feb. 8, 1985. UAH has won all three meetings in the all-time series.
