About the Chargers

WEEKEND WRAPUP
The Chargers were swept by Wisconsin this past weekend in nonconference action, falling 5-0 before battling to a 3-2 defeat on Saturday. UAH is now 0-10-0 all-time against the Badgers after this weekend's series in Madison.

PENALTY KILLING

The UAH defense had one of its best weekends in terms of the penalty kill, as they went a perfect 10-for-10 in that category. The Chargers were 5-for-5 on each night.

BREARS IS BEST
Chad Brears scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season on Saturday night, after taking advantage of a 5-on-3 power play. Brears hadn't scored since Nov. 9 against Alaska Anchorage.

CLOWES ASSISTING
Freshman Brandon Clowes notched his third assist of the season, giving him three points total. Clowes picked up the primary assist on Brears' goal on Saturday.

FIRST ONE IS THE HARDEST
Graeme Strukoff recorded his first point of the season on Brears' goal on Saturday as the junior picked up the secondary assist.

THREE FOR PRINCE
Jack Prince tallied his third goal of the season with just 19 seconds remaining on Saturday. Prince found the back of the net after Doug Reid redirected the puck, giving him his second assist of the season.

WHITE WITH A POINT

Anderson White picked up his first point of 2013-14, after being credited with the secondary assist on the Jack Prince goal.

GOLDEN GUERRIERO
Carmine Guerriero saved 42 of the 45 shots he faced on Saturday. It marks the third time this season that Guerriero has saved 40 shots or more.

POWER PLAY SCORING
The Chargers scored their seventh power play goal of the season on Saturday, but are still just seven for 86 this season.

WHAT'S ON TAP
UAH will return home this coming weekend, Jan. 3 and 4, when they host Bowling Green in WCHA action. The Chargers picked up their only win of the season at Bowling Green in overtime earlier this season.

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
There will be 11 freshmen on the UAH roster this season, the third-highest total in the NCAA. Only two teams have more first-year players.

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW
The team will be wearing brand new home and away uniforms in 2013-14. The road blues will sport "Alabama Huntsville" on the chest, while the home whites will script "UAH". The team will also wear an alternate gray uniform, along with their camouflage jerseys on Military Appreciation Weekend.

MILITARY BACKGROUNDS
Coach Corbett spent the past 10 seasons at the Air Force Academy in Colorado, while assistant Matty Thomas is a Naval Academy graduate. All three spent time at the Univ. of Denver in some capacity as well.

TRADITION CONTINUES
A program that began back in 1979 has seen its ups and downs throughout its history. From a National Championship program in the mid-1990's to a CHA contender in the early to mid-2000's, UAH Hockey has landed in the prestigious WCHA. A new era of Charger Hockey began back on October 11.

Series History

There has only been 12 meetings all-time between the two programs, with this weekend set to be No. 13 and No. 14. Bowling Green boasts an 8-3-1 all-time record against the Chargers...The Falcons are just 3-2-0 in Huntsville, but are a much stronger 5-1-1 at home...The first-ever meeting came back in 2000 when Bowling Green skated to a 4-3 victory...The two teams have already met twice this season, with those meetings coming just four weekends ago. UAH was shutout 3-0 in the Friday night opener, but bounced back on Saturday to earn its only victory to date in overtime by a 4-3 final. Frank Misuraca scored the thrilling game-winner with just 3.4 seconds left in OT.
