STILL STATISTICALLY PACING THE LEAGUE: Despite closing out the pre-Christmas slate with a setback to nationally-ranked Delta State, the Lady Chargers continue to lead the league in numerous stat categories: scoring offense (102.6 points per game), scoring margin (35.2), 3-point field goals made per game (9.7), rebounding margin (12.4), turnover margin (15.0), assist/turnover ratio (1.11), assists (18.9), and steals (20.0).

WEEKLY HONORS: Evidence of the team's strong start to the season, UAH players captured half of the GSC Player of the Week awards prior to the holidays including three of the last four. Jasmine Hammon earned the honor on Dec. 17, with Jordan Smith taking it home on both Dec. 3 and Nov. 26.

SMITH AND HAMMON GETTING BUCKETS: The duo of Jordan Smith and Jasmine Hammon continue to lead the league with 23.0 and 19.6 points per game, respectively. Smith has notched six games with at least 20 points including in the team's first three games of GSC play, and Hammon is averaging 21.3 points per contest in conference action.

NEWTON NIFTY ON THE GLASS: Juanice Newton has been terrific in collecting rebounds thus far this year, averaging 8.0 boards per game, and her numbers are even better in GSC games as she is averaging 9.7 rebounds per game in those contests. The Emelle, Ala., native is the owner of two double-doubles on the season including a 14-point, 12-rebound performance against Delta State.

SPREADING THE WEALTH AROUND: Each of the 11 Lady Chargers who have played this season has averaged at least 11 minutes per game, and that even distribution of playing time has resulted in 10 players averaging at least five points per game with seven scoring at least seven per contest.
About the Opponents
WEST FLORIDA
ABOUT THE ARGOS: West Florida enters the weekend with a 5-3 mark, but the Argos are winless in conference play thus far at 0-2. Both GSC losses were competitive games for UWF as the team fell 51-48 to Valdosta State and 58-53 to Lee, and both contests were on the road.

UWF LEADERS: The scoring threat for West Florida is a balanced one as eight players are averaging more than five points per contest with Tessah Holt leading the way with a scoring average of 12.9 points, and Holt is also the team's leader on the glass with 5.9 boards per game. Toynetta Johnson is averaging 10.8 points and 5.1 rebounds to go along with her team-best 38 assists.

VALDOSTA STATE
ABOUT THE LADY BLAZERS: VSU is sitting at 6-2 (1-1 GSC) entering play this weekend which will see the Lady Blazers take on West Alabama on Saturday. The team has been especially strong at The Complex where it boasts a perfect 5-0 mark including its GSC win – a 51-48 decision over West Florida.

VSU LEADERS: April Thomas is scoring 14.0 points per contest, coming off the bench in every contest for VSU to connect on 40.4 percent of her 3-point attempts. The Lady Blazers also feature eight players averaging at least five points per game, and Amy Duke joins Thomas in double figures with 11.3 points per contest while also leading the team in rebounding with 4.6 boards per game.
Series History
UWF: The series with West Florida is closely contested with Saturday's hosts holding a 25-22 edge after the Lady Chargers captured both regular season meetings last year and have won six straight against the Argos.

LAST YEAR IN PENSACOLA: Winning for its third straight trip to Pensacola, UAH was a 70-61 winner last season at UWF. Jasmine Hammon scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Jordan Smith scored 18 and Shannon Steinert added 11.

VSU: Valdosta State owns a 30-12 edge in the all-time series, and the Lady Blazers took two of three meetings last year with UAH dropping both regular season games before throttling VSU in the GSC tournament.

LAST YEAR IN VALDOSTA: UAH fell in a tight contest, losing 54-51 a season ago at The Complex. Jordan Smith scored 16 to lead the Lady Chargers, but VSU was strong defensively as it held UAH to a field goal percentage of just 23.9 percent for the game. Bottom of Form
