About the Chargers
WEEKEND WRAPUP
The Chargers fell in both games at home this weekend against Bowling Green in WCHA action. UAH lost 7-0 on Friday before falling 4-1 on Saturday. It marked the first time this year that UAH has lost by 5 or more goals on Friday and multiple goals on Saturday
Â
PENALTY KILLING
The UAH defense had one of its best weekends in terms of the penalty kill, as they went a perfect 10-for-10 in that category. The Chargers were 5-for-5 on each night.
Â
SCORING UPDATE
Teams have scored 96 goals against UAH this season, while they have only scored 22 goals. Both of those totals are bottoms in the league. The Chargers are being outscored 4.4-to-1 per game this season.
LOOKING FOR HIS FIRST
Goaltender
Matt Larose will continue to look for his first victory of his career after allowing seven goals on Friday and getting no offensive support. In 11 starts this season for Larose, his offense has scored just 11 goals, averaging one score per game.
BETTER MAKE THAT TWO
Freshman
Stephen McKenna scored his second career goal on Saturday night, after the forward got a stick on a shot fired from inside the blue line. McKenna also scored against St. Cloud State back on Nov. 16.
Â
KOSHEY WITH THE ASSIST
Defenseman
Steven Koshey tallied his fourth assist of the season on Saturday, after McKenna scored the team's lone goal of the weekend. Koshey hadn't recorded a point since Nov. 29 against Notre Dame.
PIERCE ON THE BOARD
Craig Pierce notched his first point since Nov. 16, as the junior assisted on McKenna's goal on Saturday. Pierce finished an even 0 plus-minus on the day.
GUERRIERO IN THE NET
Carmine Guerriero finished Saturday's game with just 22 saves. That number is the lowest number he has totaled in any game this season in which he played the entire game. The defense played one of its better games all season on Saturday, limiting BGSU to just 26 shots on goal.

About Notre Dame (courtesy of UND Athletic Communications)
HOME SWEET HOME: Notre Dame opens a six-game home stand this weekend when the Irish play host to the Alabama Huntsville Chargers on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10-11 at the Compton Family Ice Arena. Friday's game has a 7:35 p.m. start time while Saturday's contest will drop the puck at 7:05 p.m. After that the Irish play host to Lake Superior State on Jan. 17-18 and then return to Hockey East play with a pair against Northeastern on Jan. 24-25. This weekend will see Friday's game televised by the NBC Sports Network with Dan Parkhurst calling the action and Anson Carter providing analysis from "Inside the Glass." Saturday's game will have live video streaming that can be seen at NBCSports.com. The Irish will be looking for their first win in the 2014 portion of the schedule when they face Alabama Huntsville. Notre Dame brings a 10-8-1 overall record into the series and has lost two games in a row, dating back to a 3-2 loss to Massachusetts on Dec. 7. The Irish lost the opening game of 2014 last Saturday night, dropping a 4-3 decision to Boston College in front of 31, 569 at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass.Â
RANKINGS: Notre Dame enters the week ranked 15th in both the USA Today/U.S. Hockey Magazine rankings and the USCHO.com poll. The Irish started the season ranked eighth in both polls and have been in the national polls every week this season.
MORE WITH LESS: Notre Dame has recorded a short-handed goal in two of its last five games and now has five on the season. That ties the Irish for fifth in the nation and third in Hockey East behind Providence (6) and Maine (6) while Boston College also has five. Defenseman Robbie Russo had his second short-handed goal of the season in the 5-2 win over Alabama Huntsville (Nov. 29) while Stephen Johns had the first of his career in the 3-2 loss to Northeastern in the championship game of the Shillelagh Tournament.
Series History
The Fighting Irish lead by a slim 11-9-1 advantage all-time series, which dates all the way back to 1983-84 when Notre Dame swept UAH in Huntsville 6-5, 6-4. Before the earlier meeting this season in November (ND won 5-2 at the Shillelagh Tournament), the two teams had not met since 2009-10 when UAH earned a split at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are 8-3-0 all-time at home against the Chargers. The most notable meeting came in March 2007, when the two teams met in the first game of the 2007 NCAA Championships that resulted in a 2-1 double overtime victory for Notre Dame. That game currently stands as the longest in Notre Dame history at 95:18.
