WOMEN'S RESULTS
LOUISVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville cross country team competed at the 2014 Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday and concluded with a 10th place finish for the women and a 28th place finish for the men. Amongst Division II schools at the competition, the UAH women placed eighth while the men earned a 21st place standing.
Sophomore
Kailey Williams had an outstanding race in the women's 5k, finishing in second place at a time of 18:30.29 for the Chargers. Williams' time on Saturday set a personal best, with her previous personal top time clocked at 18:47.54 in the 2013 Florida State Invitational.
The UAH women also received a strong performance from senior
Michelle Kruse, who ended in tenth place at 19:03.58. Fellow senior
Kelsey Crawford notched a 70th place finish with a time of 20:05.14. The Chargers had
Chloe Whitworth (134th/20:42.79, 134),
Heather Powell (160th/20:58.75) and Allison Jay (178th/21:10.88, 178) finish in the top 200 on Saturday.
Senior
Jose Ortega led the men's side in the 8k race with a 51st place finish at a time of 25:44.06. Junior Kenneth Richardson (119th/26:18.50),
Daniel Rush (165th/26:39.86), and Alex Gilliand (197th/26:59.64) also ran for UAH with top 200 times.
Overall on Saturday, Hillsdale finished first on the men's side while Lipscomb came in first for the women's teams.
The Chargers next meet will be at the Florida State Invitational on Friday, Oct. 10.
